Environment
Manifesto
We work in respect of nature and its resources.
From material sourcing to production, every step is guided by a commitment to preserve what already exists. We favor natural materials, thoughtful processes, and a pace that respects both the environment and the people behind each piece.

Indonesia is not a backdrop. It is the reason the work looks the way it does. Across Bali, Java, and the wider archipelago, the relationship with natural material, how it is harvested, shaped, and used is embedded in centuries of practice. We believe that true quality cannot be rushed. Subtle variations, textures, and imperfections are not flaws, but signatures of the human touch, making every piece quietly unique. We work here because nowhere else offers the same depth of knowledge, proximity to raw material, and density of craft tradition in one place.

Indonesian craft is not a style. It is a system of knowledge that understands balance between tradition and adaptation, between what a material can bear and what it cannot. Our approach draws from that understanding. Betweentradition and contemporary needs, we create objects that respect their origin while integrating seamlessly into the spaces they inhabit.

MOKU is built in close connection with the communities that bring our pieces to life. We work directly with local workshops and makers, ensuring fair practices, stable income, and long-term partnerships.
By choosing local craft and local resources, we contribute to preserving traditional skills while supporting the people behind them. Every piece carries not only material value, but a human story.

We do not use the word sustainable lightly. What we can say with precision: we produce to order, not to inventory. We work with materials in their most honest form, minimizing unnecessary processing. We favor local resources and reduce transport wherever the supply chain allows. We take the long view on maker relationships rather than optimizing for short-term cost.
